I was lucky to find a Donor car locally. It was a 1988 Mustang LX 5.0 with 104,000 miles on it. I was able to drive the car home so it was in fair running condition. The first thing I did was to back it into the garage and put it up on jacks. The fun part was about to begin. Take apart a car and you don’t have to worry about putting it back together. yahooo Of course some care was taken because the plan was to sell parts on eBay.
Then I left town for a week off and let my son and some friends strip the car. It is pretty scary what a couple of teenagers can do in a matter of hours.
“Son, where did you learn to do this?” Bumpers, light ssemblies, front quarter panels all sold on eBay to help recover some costs.
I was careful to label all the wiring connectors the best I could. When the boys stripped the car they were not thinking about labeling wiring harnesses. It was necessary to pull up the rug and interior paneling to remove all the wiring harnesses. The steering column came out pretty easy but shucks, it is a tilt column and I needed a non tilt steering column. It was about this time my son asked if he could use this car for school.
